Since 1987, libraries across the country have joined the American Library Association each September to celebrate one of the most powerful (and free!) tools you can own: a library card. It's an event initiated by the American Library Association and the National Commission on Libraries and Information Science, timed to coincide with the start of the school year, so every student has the chance to start the year equipped with access to a world of knowledge.
But a library card isn't just for students ~ it's your key to free books, ebooks, audiobooks, movies, music, homework help, career resources, community programs, and so much more. Whether you're a lifelong patron or you've never signed up before, September is the perfect time to stop by, renew your card, or get one for the first time.
